American – $343 – $780ish: US – Eastern Europe / Scandinavia. Roundtrip, including all Taxes

YEP! It’s hidden and not easily searchable so follow the instructions below. Some dates might be a little higher — availability is limited!

This seems to be an US Airways / AA codeshare loading issue — it will not last. As a point of reference, the last time where a codeshare loading issue happened was in February from Dallas /Miami / Chicago to Europe. We posted that deal at 8:30PM and it was gone by first thing in the morning. This definitely will be corrected soon. We posted this starting with Warsaw on May 23rd at 6:01PM Eastern. It won’t last!

How to Search for Availability:

To get these prices, you must route via Philadelphia or Charlotte and on US Airways plane under American flights from US to Europe. The most logical choice is London as the first European connection point, but Madrid, Zurich etc will also work.

  • Use ITA Software Matrix Airfare Search and use the following search criteria:
    • Departing from: MIA
    • Outbound Advanced Routing Code: aa+ lhr
      • Just using “aa+” will also work for some city pairs like PHL
      • Or use “PHL LHR” instead of aa+ lhr
      • Or use “CLT LHR” instead of aa+ lhr
    • Destination: WAW
      • For Budapest, replace WAW with BUD
    • Return Advanced Routing Code: lhr aa+
      • Or use “LHR CLT” instead of lhr aa+ to see availability. The fare is there. ITA not running all possible combinations and you have massage it.
    • (Click on Advanced Routing Codes link to enable advanced routing code input)
    • (For other Departing cities, replace MIA with the airport from the top of the post)
    • Select “See calendar of lowest fares”
    • Length of stay “0-7” (the max date range is 7 days. So 0-7, 5-12, 7-14 etc)
  • Beginner’s Guide on How to Use Matrix by ITA Software
  • How to Read Airfare Rules and Use It to Your Advantage

Basically, if the first advanced routing code isn’t giving you the price we listed, try the second, then the 3rd option. The fare is there.

Fare Class:

  • O, Q, or N class

  • MIA – PHL (Philadelphia) – LHR (London) – WAW (Warsaw) – LHR – MIA.

  • 10,816 miles or 4.2 cents per mile

How to Book:

  • Book with AA.COM with dates found on ITA Software Matrix Airfare Search. It is pricing most city combos correctly — it might initially show a higher price, just click thru with the same flights found on ITA and it will price correctly. If AA isn’t pricing it, you can try online travel agencies like Orbitz, CheapOair etc. Some city combos worked and some didn’t.

  1. Keith says:

Been trying a bunch of combos from LAX for October-November. No luck. Anyone else?

    • TFD says:

@Keith – LAX seems to be a basket case. AA is pricing it about $100 more than ITA. Have been trying a while to figure out something, nothing yet.

  2. aanerd says:

if you play around with the dates, you’ll find ORD-VIE for $380 per person round trip for next year… I just booked 2/7/15-2/15/15.. and i found a few more dates for March & early April

  3. Pat says:

LGA – PHL – LHR – BUD – $426 for Thanksgiving. Had it for $395, but lost the price when I went for two seats. Thanks for the tip guys.

  4. MichaelP says:

    DFW-PHL-PRG-LHR-DFW $600, Oct, 6-9 nights

  5. mlh says:

Cheapest I can find Feb/Mar ’15 for ORD – VIE using outbound routing AA+ LHR and return routing LHR AA+ is $649

    • TFD says:

      @mlh – believe there might a 7 day minimum?

      • ARO says:

Remove the LHR on ITA, but I’m having issues finding the $343 routing to book anywhere else.

        • TFD says:

@ARO – it books on fine. just did a sample booking, November 5th – 10th for $363. you need to look for it, it isnt sorted at first. just look for the exact routing as what ITA is showing by going thru the flight options.

  6. Jon says:

found some IAH to BUD in october on ITA but don’t seem to get any of the prices to load on AA…

    • TFD says:

@Jon – try doing it via multi-city. or use google flights or kayak.

      • Jon says:

        kayak worked!

Status: On Request on May 24, 2014

hopefully i get an eticket soon?

        • TFD says:

@Jon – it will come.. wouldnt worry too much about it. typical AA status message

          • Jon says:

appreciate your help — got an eticket 🙂

i hadn’t followed your blog before but am now on it!

  7. Dennis G. says:

LGA-VIE for $413 on 2/20/15! Thanks so much for the legwork you do… I’ll use your links for purchasing flights whenever possible!

  8. Nick B. says:

LGA-PHL-LHR-VIE-ZRH-PHL-LGA for New Year’s, only $413!!! <3 The Flight Deal!!! 12/28/14-1/6/14. Tip for DC folks: If you get a return through Philly, skip the last flight back to LGA and take amtrak down to DC. Have done this successfully before. If you have checked luggage and PHL is the point-of-entry into the U.S. you have to pick up the checked luggage anyways.

I've previously had success with USAirways putting me onto PHL-DCA on standby, because PHL-LGA is ridiculous for getting back to DC 🙂

  9. rrgg says:

Is November the earliest date people have found? Still trying… Thanks.

  10. Rich says:

    BOS-LHR-BUD-LHR-BOS in november for $419/ticket

  11. James says:

Anybody found any good deals leaving from DC?

  12. Alex says:

    LGA-PHL-LHR-OTP-LHR-PHL-LGA for $448 in Jan 2015.

  13. Jonathan says:

Anyone else still finding dates for NYC-VIE. I had it pricing sub-$500 and now I can’t get anything below $900. 🙁

  14. Hillary says:

Anybody know the deals leaving from DEN (denver)

  15. Dundili says:

Got lucky – pulled a trigger at 9:54p ord-vie-ord for 377! Thanks so much for the heads up!
