Also, one has to be careful that the category of fare on Lufthansa earns miles….many do not!!! Once burnt, twice shy.

    • TFD says:

@janice – no doubt. K class fares from Lufthansa are the worse. That’s why we always list out the partner fare class and only publish fares that are 100% mileage earning with the major airlines in the US. This fare will earn 100% if it is a combination of United/Lufthansa. It will not be if it is United + Swiss or Austrian or Brussels.

      • Janice Robertson says:

Here is what I’m running into….if I book the flight on United, they are always “K” class. On the other hand, if I book on Orbitz, there is no class of service listed. How did you get the L to come up?

        • TFD says:

@Janice – we always look on ITA first. Once we receive the confirmation, we check with the airline to make sure everything is in order. In case of partner airline, we also check with the partner on things like their own confirmation number plus fare class. We do all this within the first 24 hours, if it is not in order, we use the risk free 24 hour cancellation that is available for all flights from the US.

  2. Jeremy says:

Does this earn on US as well, or is the Lufthansa leg not a 100% earner on US?
