How does the stopover work exactly? Do i need to call the airline to reserve it with the stopover? Is it limited to NRT? Any insight would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for sharing all the awesome deals, by the way. I am a fan!

    • TFD says:

@YBZ: a stopover is a stay in a connection city greater than 24 hours and less than the maximum of days allowed by the fare. For example, we didn’t check to see whether this fare is limited to only Tokyo, but lets say it does. You can fly from Los Angeles to Tokyo (stay for a week — stopover), then go to Singapore (another week) and fly back. The only additional fees that you would pay if the stopover is free would be the incremental taxes and fees associated with going to Japan.

As for how to price a stopover — you have to manually search online using the multicity function on ITA, Kayak etc or have a good travel agent. Most customer service reps at the airline are not that versed in ticketing anything beyond a standard roundtrip ticket.

We should put an article together on how to search for one.
