Normal coach fares from New York to Ecuador run about $600 and they rarely go on sale. If you want to go to the Galapagos too, LAN’s fares from Guayaquil are about $350 roundtrip. You can also redeem 7,500 British Airways Avios each way to Galapagos from Guayaquil. There are no premium class seats between Guayaquil and Galapagos or within Ecuador — only coach. But we think you will survive for the 722 mile trip if you decide to go.

LAN is our favorite airline to South America — we take it every chance we get when we head down there. That said, the flight between New York and Ecuador is about 6 hours, so its a short flight. The seat is an angle lie-flat.

Both Guayaquil and Quito are $999 even though you will take an extra flight in Ecuador for Quito. Between New York and Guayaquil, it’s nonstop service.
