American: 10% Off Promo with Disney Planes Contest

American is running a contest for a chance win a trip for four around the world.  We’re not as interested in the contest as we are the 10% coupon code that you can possibly get by playing.

Update 8/10/2013 – Seems like all 100,000 codes have been claim. There are no more codes for playing this game.

Go though the “flight simulation” and unlock 3 surprises for a chance at the promo code “good for 10% off your next flight when you book on”  Once you register you may be eligible for the 10% off code.  This discount code is specific to you and can only be used once.  It looks like they’re only giving away 100,000 of the codes so hurry! We tried playing 4 times so far and got three 10% off codes. So if you didn’t win the first time, try try again.

From playing it many times, it seems that if you just collect 3 surprises and then register, you will get the code. If not, try again. To make it easy, here’s a YouTube video we put together that has worked for us in getting the 10% off coupon:

Terms and conditions of the promotion code:

  • Book by August 31st
  • For travel from August 15th – November 15th
  • Blackout dates between August 31st  August 30th and September 2nd (so will not work on Labor Day weekend basically)
  • Depart from the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands to anywhere with American service (must be on American or American Eagle. No codeshares)
  • Up to 2 passengers per reservation.

More details on AA promo codes here.

H/T: barelyelite for giving us the initial set of T+Cs for the promo code.

Hi — I am not seeing any travel date restrictions in the terms. Where did you get this from? Thanks.

    • TFD says:

@Steven, at the you won 10% coupon page, there’s a small link for “rules.” That’s where we found the full language.

  2. erin says:

Actually it’s blacked out from the 30th not the 31st

  3. Mark M says:

I grabbed a few of these promo codes and would like to give them away to people who will use them…since I can’t use them all. Can you set up a giveaway for 15 random people to get one of my codes? If so please email me, thanks.

  4. Kit says:

I’d really appreciate a code. I tried playing for a while and couldn’t find a way to win a discount. Any tips or can someone luckier than I help me out?
