A Delta Enhancement That Is Actually an Enhancement, Air France/KLM V Fares = Mileage Earning

In April, we posted that fare alignment between Delta, Air France and KLM’s meant that Air France and KLM’s cheapest fares were not mileage earning. These fares were in the V and X bucket.

Here are the screenshots from Delta’s mileage earning charts from April:

Now:

Looks like Delta’s mileage earning charts were updated in the last few days and now V class fares are 100% MILEAGE earning!

This is the first positive news from Delta in a very long time! It is also been a while since we actually see positive enhancement to mileage earning via airline partners. Couple with Delta earning 100% with its new partner Virgin Atlantic, we are seeing significant positive enhancements with Delta’s tier 1 partners (tier 1 = those partners that Delta has an equity or joint venture relationship).

The downside? X fares continues to be non-mileage earning.

Any advice for those of us who flew on V-fares in between April and today? I just got back from a trip 2 weeks ago and was denied mileage due to the V-fares. Unfortunately at the time I booked, I had no idea, so I found out after the fact upon my return and the flights posted but without mileage.

@Kevin, you can always email customer service and ask. The chart does not have a start or end date.

Thanks! I will give them a try and see what happens.

@Kevin – I have had readers reporting success that Delta is willing to submit flights like yours for Skymiles credit. If they say no, email again or try @DeltaAssist and mention others are getting credit for this time period when they were aligning fare classes with the partners.

@Rene – good to hear that Delta is making good on the V class flights.

As a follow up, I emailed, cited the new partner airline accrual rules and was credited for the flights. Thank you all for the advice!
