The deal is gone. If you purchased and waiting for ticketing, please just be patient. DO NOT CALL!

Wideroe.no, a Norweign airline is not including fuel surcharges on fares on United Airlines between the United States and Europe Israel, India, the Middle East and Australia. We tested a few city pairs and for all itineraries with United flights, the fuel surcharge is not included. Just a few caveats for those intending to book:

  • It is an European site, so US DOT regulations on mistake fare might not necessarily apply
  • This will be billed in Norwegian Krone, so use a no fee foreign exchange credit card like American Express Platinum or Chase Sapphire to book to save on the 2-3% fees
  • Don’t book a hotel yet til its confirmed (e.g., you receive a confirmation with a ticket NUMBER!!!. A ticket number is NOT a record locator (Six Letters). It should be 016-XXXXXXXXXXXXX.)
  • Don’t call any service providers (wideroe, United etc). Repeat, DO NOT CALL!
  • With these deals, you win some and lose some. There is always the next deal if this one doesn’t work out.
  • Be proactive – great tip from urifintzy: “Our bank tried to decline transaction because it’s a Norwegian site. Contacted Fraud dept and told them its okay.” So call your bank to let them know you are or will be making a transaction in Norway
  • Book now, ask questions later.

Update 1 @ 11/23/2013 at 1:10PM Eastern – some availability to India. See screenshot below. Washington D.C. – Mumbai for under $300! Not all city pairs might work.

Update 2 @ 11/23/2013 @ 1:15PM Eastern – all transatlantic routes including Israel and the rest of the Middle East

Update 3 @ 11/23/2013 @ 1:45PM Eastern – Los Angeles – Sydney. $716.

Update 4 @ 11/23/2013 @ 2:50PM Eastern – Newark – Milan is by far the cheapest at $149.

Update 5 @ 11/23/2013 @ 4:00PM Eastern. Phone number problem? Thanks to Jill: Put only +1 in the left box. Then put the area code and the full 7 digit number in the right box. No dashes, parentheses etc.

Update 6 @ 11/23/2013 @ 4:15PM Eastern – wideroe is loading very slowly. Get a cup of coffee while you wait. It does load. Or try the advance search screen: https://www.wideroe.no/book/?l=en&adv=yes (copy and paste it)

Update 7 @ 11/23/2013 @ 8:45PM Eastern – multiple reports that it is erroring out after the passenger information screen. This looks like its gone or will soon to be gone. Now it is a waiting game for the ticket to be issued. We have been getting multiple reports that it is taking anywhere from 4 – 4.5 hours to be ticketed vs just being confirmed.

Update 8 @ 11/23/2013 @ 11:00PM Eastern – if you have a segment with Jet Airways or FlyDubai, your itinerary will be canceled and you will be soon receive this email:

Dear Customer

We were unable to complete your order. Your reservation has been canceled. Your credit card has not been charged.

The reason is that we do not have ticketing agreements with one or more airlines on your itinerary.

Please disregard the automatic confirmation we sent you by e-mail.

We apologize for the inconvenience and recommend that you book your travel directly from the airline’s website or via a travel agent.

Sincerely,
Widerøe Internet Booking

Update 9 @ 11/25/2013 @ 12:15PM Eastern – be patient. If you are, most questions including will it be honored? or when will it be ticketed? will sort itself out.

Update 10 @ 11/26/2013 @ 3:00AM Eastern – just to answer a few questions:

  1. Name change – not something that can be done. Small corrections (like a simple misspelling) can be done. But name change, no. It is airlines way of preventing speculation — e.g., people buying up all the cheap tickets and then reselling them.
  2. Date change – unlikely either. These fares are non-refundable with a change fee. The change fee is $300 (standard for all United international tickets). A date change will trigger a change fee or $300 + any fare difference.
  3. Cancellation – if you pass the 24 hour cancellation period, canceling for most tickets do not make sense as the change fee even for the refundable tickets (an example of an itinerary that was refundable was LAX-DXB) is $300 and most tickets sold was under $300.
  4. Extra ticket – e.g., booked 3 but need only 2. Wait for this to settle down — like next week or so. Then reach out to split the record locator to one that is traveling and one that isn’t. Then cancel the one that isn’t traveling — you will be out of the cost of that ticket since these fares are non-refundable and have a $300 change fee.
  5. Basically, these fares are no different than a normal fare when it comes to the terms and conditions.

The deal is gone. If you purchased and waiting for ticketing, please just be patient. DO NOT CALL!

    • Amazing_Fare says:

This is crazy, Feb 24, 2014 – Jun 10: IAH-DEL for $327 roundtrip! Didn’t get the ticket number though only 6 digit confirmation code

      • OUTWARDBOUND says:

Same here – they’ve not billed my CC yet either. I have a feeling that this res is going to be pulled.

  6. Ben Hebert says:

Awesome! Roundtrip for two to Amsterdam in March for only $940.

  10. Orlando says:

    I just book 2 people EWR-MAD for $327 r/t each person. Let’s see what happens…

  11. Eric says:

did anyone get ticket numbers yet?

  12. Jill says:

Yep, got one confirmed ticket. Waiting on the other one :/

  13. Jason Scott says:

Any idea at all about what the fuel surcharge may be? Are we talking $100, $300, $600?

  14. c2d says:

Anyone else getting this error? “Please provide a country code for your contact phone number”

I have tried both +1 and 1. Neither seems to work. Help please! I am so close.

    • Jill says:

Put only +1 in the left box. Then put the area code and the full 7 digit number in the right box. No dashes, parentheses etc.

      • c2d says:

Thanks Jill, but for some reason it is still not working.

Country code — selected from drop down box as USA — it fills as US

        Intl dial code +1
Phone number 10 digit number without any dashes or other characters

Still not working :( I don’t know what I am doing different.

        • Tyr says:

I just put in 1 and it worked.

        • Jill says:

          Hm, I don’t know. :/
I didn’t select the country code from the drop down box. Maybe that makes a difference? Also make sure you have no spaces between any of the numbers.
I typed +1 into the left box and then the 10 digit number into the right.
It took a few tries for mine to go though, but it did eventually.

          Good luck!

        • c2d says:

I started over and now I see a different “Passenger details” screen. This one has no address, but does have a drop down box for the international phone country code. This works! Thanks to Jill and everyone else who tried to help out with this issue!!

  15. S says:

    Website is…KO

  16. Bryan says:

Hey! Thanks for posting this. I got NYC-Milan for $211 during easter week. I got my confirmation, but not my ticket number. How long did you have to wait to get that?

  17. Chris says:

I just booked IAD–DXB for $317 in mid-Janurary. I got a confirmation from the website but no ticket number yet.

Do you think It is a bad idea to try and link the 6 digit confirmation number to my Milage Plus account? I am thinking once I have a ticket number I have to be safe right?

  18. Hyacinthe says:

    Booking website has crashed.

  19. Gavin says:

Booked one for 12/6 departure to Milan for mileage run for $160. Saw cheaper tickets for $130 but my schedule doesn’t permit. Still very good deal for 14,000 UA miles for $160. Thanks for posting this.

  20. Scott C says:

    site seems to be crashing

  21. Jillian Walker says:

    Booked Seattle-Sydney, Feb 20-Mar 7, $825 all in.

    Thank you so much!

  22. pm says:

  24. Pablo says:

Newark – Milan for $315.08 for two! Valentine’s weekend. Just won husband of the year….if it holds up!

  25. michelle says:

can you cancel without charge within 24 hours of booking?

  26. Caleb says:

To anyone that has booked has the charge hit your credit card yet? (as pending or other). I called Barclays to allow the charge and I booked about an hour ago and still no charge has hit my account.

  27. neel says:

    jsut booked to 2 milan 2/10 – 2/14 for 258usd

has not hit my amex yet

  28. Martin says:

I booked Milan from Newark for 131. Looks like this May work. Thanks.

  29. Lively says:

I booked EWR>MXP….but they still have not charged my card. I called Chase to alert of the foreign charge….but still nothing.

  30. E. O. says:

Does anyone have experience with the fuel surcharges in these situations? I’d really like to book a couple more trips, but I’m concerned about having $500+ extra charged unexpectedly…

    • TFD says:

@EO – they will either cancel or you fly at the price. unlikely you will get hit with the price + fuel.

  31. Jillian Walker says:

2nd flight booked. Vancouver (CAN) to Stockholm, May 12-19, $541 all in.

Seattle was pretty much the same price.

  32. LB says:

Booked EWR-MXP for 4 people for $611 total (~$150 per person) for President’s Day Weekend. Booked at around 1:30 eastern today. Credit card got charged and ticket is confirmed in my United account. Thanks Flight Deal, Italy here we come!!!

Booked at 3:30 from EWR-LHR for $450 for MLK weekend, but not yet ticketed. Not sure I’ll have same luck on this ticket.

    • Caleb says:

I booked at 2:00 EST time, nothing charged or ticketed yet :-(

@LB – For your tickets you booked at 1:30 about how long was it before your tickets were issued?

  33. Chris says:

All my searches come up with prices in euros not NOK. What am I doing wrong?

  34. c2d says:

For those of you who had “country code” error, please note again. Start over the search and you should see a different Passenger Details screen. This one will have a spot for your Frequent flier number, but no spot for your mailing address. This is the good screen. You can use the drop down box next to the international dialing code box and select the +44 UK code. The enter your phone number without any special characters or spaces in the right box. The proceed.

This worked for me. IAD-BOM RT for $307 per person! Charge has not hit my CC yet. But, I can see the non-ticketed itinerary in my United profile. Lets hope it gets ticketed.

If you didn’t put down your FF number, you can also check the itinerary on http://www.checkmytrip.com using the 6-character record locator and your last name.

  35. C says:

    IAD-JNB 486$ 22/1/14 – 5/2/14

  36. Alex says:

So I booked a flight from Newark to Milan. I recieved an email with a reservation number and my trip status is “confirmed”. Then for ticket it says it’s an E-ticket but no ticket number. Should I be expecting the ticket number in a later email or am I good to go?

  37. DKM says:

Booked two trips but neither is ticketing. Both are just reservations with no payment attached.

  38. IKTMIT says:

For everyone whose credit cards have been charged, how long did it take after you bought the ticket? I bought 2 tickets to EWR to MXP for MLK weekend around 4:10 p.m. ET but it hasn’t been charged yet. Hoping it works because it will be a birthday trip for boyfriend and me.

  39. Julie says:

Los Angeles to Mumbai, March 9-18, $679 RT.

    Booked… Hope this works out!

  40. BAK says:

Just got two tix EWR-LIS, $297 pp.

Got the confirmation # right away. Waiting on the e-tickets.

  41. Kinza says:

    EWR to MIL for 3
    March 8-16 $880

  42. Janice says:

Los Angeles to Stockholm from 3/21-3/31 for $386!

  43. Lively says:

I just checked my United account and the reservation is there. I haven’t been formally ticketed yet and my credit card has not been charged.

  44. neel says:

for those who are ticketed, what type of CC did you pay with?

i paid with amex and have not been ticketed

  45. nr says:

    website isn’t opening… any tips?

    • c2d says:

On the main page, top right corner where you select the language, there is also a selection for the booking currency.

  46. Bryan says:

So I have two round trips booked with confirmation numbers, but neither has been charged to my credit card or ticketed. Has anyone actually received an e-ticket?

  47. Mark says:

Chicago – Warsaw – is also available from 139 euro :)
    http://tanieloty.in/loty/supertanie-loty-do-usa

  48. Laura782 says:

Still lots of deals! Just booked Newark to Lisbon $260 pp in mid-January.

  49. USAJerry says:

So much for that. Website is down. :(

  50. Becca Bandit says:

We just booked SFO >> CPH and return from MAD >> SFO for $401 for 2 weeks in March! We received confirmation numbers and it’s showing up on our accounts in United. Thanks so much to The Flight Deal!

    • Jordan says:

Did you get the six character confirmation, or the full 14-digit number? What time did you book your tickets?

  51. Lauren says:

Booked IAD-DUB for $296 in Jan, and I see it in my United account. But it says “This reservation is not ticketed. We will hold this reservation until midnight Sat., Nov. 23, 2013 in Washington, DC (IAD – Dulles)” I purchased it around 7pm and it is only going to hold it for 5 hours?

  52. Megan says:

Just booked Newark to Milan in March for two at $149 each. Received a confirmation email with a reservation number, but my card hasn’t been debited the $300, nor have I received an actual ticket number. Booked at about 7:30pm eastern time. Is anyone having luck receiving ticket numbers or having their cards debited this evening? Any tips?

  53. Kat B says:

For those who are just joining the conversation, the website has just gone to “Closed for technical reasons” status. I think we broke them.

  54. Daniel says:

It seems like no one is being ticketed. I don’t think I’ve seen one person who has gotten ticketed for their flight.

    • TFD says:

@Daniel – we have multiple reports of being ticketed on twitter. It is taking 4+ hours now.

      • Julie says:

Haven’t been ticketed yet either. Going on 4 hours from booking time now.
United account says the reservation is held ’til midnight. What happens if it’s not ticketed by then?

        • Daniel says:

It would seem that we lose the reservation if not ticketed by midnight.

          • Julie says:

I suppose that was a dumb question, huh. I initially thought United’s reservation-holding thing was something separate from the wideroe booking.

Anyway, fingers crossed we get it!

  55. Joshua says:

Can’t seem to get past the passenger info page! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  56. Philipp says:

I read on the Internet that people had to pay the fuel surcharge at The airport when booking over this Norwegian site.

Anyone with experience? I don’t want to pay 500 dollar extra at the airport

  57. Joshua says:

Is anyone else getting this screen?

We are unable to confirm the fare for the flights you have selected. Please choose a different fare or flights and resubmit your request. (15012 – 1006)
We are having difficulty processing your request at this time. We recommend that you wait a few minutes and try again. We apologize for this inconvenience.

  58. Joshua says:

I don’t know why I didn’t pull the trigger earlier! I always do this! ARGH!

  59. Frank says:

    Hi all,
I’m looking for airfare from SFO to wherever after May 17. Has anyone booked or will book from SFO? let me know your destination!

  60. NAIF says:

    I AM ALSO GETTING
We are unable to confirm the fare for the flights you have selected. Please choose a different fare or flights and resubmit your request. (15012 – 1006)
We are having difficulty processing your request at this time. We recommend that you wait a few minutes and try again. We apologize for this inconvenience.

  61. liv says:

What the hell is going on here….. the suspense is killing me!!!

  62. Melissa says:

Purchased first trip 5.5 hours ago….still not ticketed.

Second purchased about 3.5 hours ago…no ticket.

Not sure if I should call United and play dumb asking why it’s taken so long…but I am concerned because though the flights show up in my United account, they continue to say not ticketed. The thing that really worries me is that it says it will only be held until midnight tonight.

    • Angela says:

      Please do not call.

    • MariaSangria says:

      Do not call the airline.

    • LoneTree says:

      Do. Not. Call.

    • DP says:

Is there any way to access the reservations if you didn’t use a United account #?

    • Derek says:

bought my first trip 6.5 hours ago. still no ticket.

    • Megan says:

I have the same situation, but it says up on the top of this post not to call United. I think the idea is it will alert them, if they haven’t already figured it out. Either way, please let us know what happens if you do decide to call!

      • Melissa says:

I think the idea was to not call United when the website was still up and running so that the max number of people could try to book in that time frame. However, it seems like the site is down completely now so no one can get in and make new reservations anyhow. Thinking I will wait another hour or so…but I will probably call and ask when my flight will be ticketed since the reservation is done at midnight (it’s almost 830pm here).

  63. Jessica says:

Oh dear, I booked EWR to MXP at 2:15 MST and I have yet to see a charge. Initially when I checked United with my wideroe.no confirmation #, it showed booking numbers for United and SwissAir, now it’s just saying that it can’t pull up a reservation….thinking this may not have worked for me

  64. L says:

wideroe.no is closed some hours due to technical reasons

  65. Katerina says:

2:48 pm EST: booked 2 tix IAD-FRA and credit card went through smoothly. Received confirmation shortly thereafter. However, have not yet been ticketed (10 pm EST) nor has the charge hit my Visa. Anyone?

  66. James says:

Whew! So I booked SFO-ARN at 1:19pm PST, and it finally cleared at 7:07pm. Was getting a little worried, but confirmed with a ticket number, and showing up on United with a cost 2,721 NOK ($444.32).

    • Katerina says:

When you say “cleared’, does that mean it hit your CC? And when did you get the ticket #? Thanks.

      • James says:

It’s now showing as a pending transaction on Chase as where it wasn’t showing before (called earlier to notify them of the possible transaction). And yes, I now have a ticket number that came in an email (attached PDF) seven hours after I booked. I re-checked the confirmation number (not the ticket number) I got during booking earlier today at United’s website, and is now showing confirmed and not pending till midnight as it was before.

  67. c2d says:

After all this wait…. I got this disappointing email just now. Anyone else?

    Dear Customer

We were unable to complete your order. Your reservation has been canceled. Your credit card has not been charged.

The reason is that we do not have ticketing agreements with one or more airlines on your itinerary.

Please disregard the automatic confirmation we sent you by e-mail.

We apologize for the inconvenience and recommend that you book your travel directly from the airline’s website or via a travel agent.

    Sincerely,
    Widerøe Internet Booking

    • ricky says:

      Awww, shucks!!!!

    • TFD says:

@c2d: do you have a flydubai or jet airways segment on your itinerary? we have reports those were sent out based on itineraries with those carriers on the flight.

      • c2d says:

Indeed. I did have ONE Jet Airways segment :( There is even a pending charge on my CC, but then I got the email and the PNR is gone.

Oh well, this was a long shot anyway. I had some free excitement added to my weekend I guess. Eyes peeled for the next deal to come along…

    • umph says:

I haven’t gotten an email like that yet but fingers still crossed on the Milan flight. At least we know they are on to this.

    • Geri J. says:

I got the same email. AFTER I received confirmation from Wideroe, but before the ticket number was issued. I emailed them asking if they did not have a “ticketing agreement,” why was the flight available for purchase through the site. We’ll see.

  68. ricky says:

I got tix to Milan as well. Booked at 17pm est and then thought about Lisbon tix. Regret not pulling the trigger co after 1900est it didn’t GI through.

United shows itinerary but no ticket no. Doubt if this will stick. Fingers crossed.

  69. samantha says:

I keep trying and every time i get to the purchase page it says

    The following error(s) occured
We are unable to confirm the fare for the flights you have selected. Please choose a different fare or flights and resubmit your request. (15012 – 1006)

  70. Bryan says:

Um, it seems like the website is back up and offering the deals… Is anyone seeing this?

BTW, booked at 3:22 and 5:35pm today and I still haven’t been ticketed

  71. Gavin says:

Site is up again. Went through all the way from EWR to MXP on 1/17 – 1/19 for $160.37 but don’t know if it will be honored but no harm trying.

  72. Adam says:

Why would anyone calling make a difference in if people with current reservations get tickets or not? I couldn’t even get through to book but don’t see why it matters at this point. They obviously already know something went wrong with that site and united can probably see who the bookings came from… It’s not like they won’t figure it out…

    • TFD says:

      @Adam – don’t call.

      • Adam says:

I don’t even have a reservation…couldn’t get in. I won’t be calling. I’m just trying to understand why those other people shouldn’t call. If their United account says the reservation will be cancelled at midnight then why wouldn’t they try to call before then to keep that from happening?

  73. OUTWARDBOUND says:

Booked @ 2:20PM, EST. I’ve yet to have my CC be charged and I’ve not ticketed. Only one hour to go before my reservation is automatically let go by United. Pretty sure this goose is cooked – oh well, it was a fun ride!

  74. ricky says:

Sorry, site is not back up for me…still get 1502 error though fares are available. Nmaybe u can share which airport and dates u tried.
    Not ticketed!

  75. Tanya says:

So if you are saying that United isn’t ticketing, then why would our reservations no longer be held after midnight? If we aren’t ticketed by then will our reservation just be deleted even though it was confirmed?

  76. Matt says:

Your tickets won’t get canceled at midnight. Just be patient.

  77. Annie says:

The country code for my phone number in the US is not being accepted. I’ve used +011, 011, +11, +11 541
    Help! What’s the correct code?

    Thanks!

  78. James says:

Already past midnight now…What happens next? Still not ticketed

  79. Patrick says:

ERW to MXP in late March $137.50 reserved and ticketed 9 hours later.
DCA to BOM in late January $286.18 reserved and waiting ticketing 7 hours later.

  80. Point Princess says:

UA changed to: This reservation is not ticketed.
We will hold this reservation until midnight Sun., Nov. 24, 2013

    • Ricky says:

Ditto! Feel like it might be cancelled. No pending charge just yet. Just Hope!

      • TFD says:

@Ricky: A few weeks ago, the team here got in on the $153 LAN deal from Mexico City to Buenos Aires. It took 28 hours to ticket. As we have been saying all day – be patient. We have been receiving numerous reports of successful ticketing in the last hour. The time lag is about 9 hours now. It will likely be longer because the site was basically slammed starting around 3PM when it went viral.

        • Ricky says:

Thanks for Sharing TFD. Good to learn more about this. I booked mine much later so might as well go sleep now.

          Will update. Thanks for sharing!

  81. Caleb says:

I don’t have much hope at this point…..I was one of the earlier ones to book and no charge or ticket activity on either of my tickets (booked with two different CC cards).

United will only hold the reservation till midnight tonight and I assume the fare will be corrected by then.

  82. Caleb says:

I booked one ticket at 11:30 MTN and another at 3:30 MTN using a different CC. At 12:15 AM PST I just received an email that my 2nd ticket was declined bc problems with my CC. It stated it would be cancelled after 2 hours or I could re-submit. Everything is perfect on my credit card so I don’t know why. I tried my Barclays card (which I had called earlier to alert) and re-submitted.

I had already given up but worth a shot.

FWIW, this was for my 2nd later transaction, for the first earlier one I had made I have heard nothing, no charge, no tickets, nothing…..going on 13 hours.

    • TFD says:

@Caleb: Per our post – could be your bank. Call them to see if they declined the charge being from Norway.

    • teresa says:

I booked mines at 12pm PST and still haven’t received anything, guess they’re not going in order.

  83. Ct says:

    Finally Ticket and Confirmed!!!!
    Boom Shocka Locka!!
    Chicago to Milan $500!
Literally poppin’ bottles to celebrate in Chi Town!
    Sorry for all the exclamations!!!!!

  84. Paul says:

It’s 11:59 in Vegas and I was able to find another one to book. I simply chose air Canada vs united and it went through. Got booked on a Lufthansa flight from Toronto to Milan for around 224.00. Some appear to still be working, just can’t get the direct United Flights to go through

  85. CC says:

I haven’t gotten a ticket–but I have a reservation. I booked from Washington DC (IAD) to Milan through Newark, but my reservation is showing IAD-JFK airport change EWR-MXP.

When I booked it, I wasn’t told about an airport change (had I known, I would have just booked EWR-MXP and gotten to Newark on my own).

I did the reservation from my iphone, so that could be the problem.

Did anyone else have airport change issues?

    • Lauren says:

i saw this itinerary too– when I first started looking around 230pm yesterday, this itinerary was $270 round trip (with the airport change) for Mlk weekend. once I noticed it, I was able to find a flight from dca with a simple newark layover for about $100 more.

      • CC says:

Good to know. I guess if I ever get ticketed, I’ll see what I can do. I did really want the whole flight on one itinerary, so that if something went wrong with the first flight, they had responsibility for the second one.

  86. Patrick says:

    Now ticketed on both trips.

  87. David says:

I have bought some tickets today:

    1st: 1 ticket MAD-CHI 276 $ buyed at 2:30 pm with confirmation at 7:00 pm.
    2nd: 2 tickets MAD-CHI 276 $ each, buyed at 4:40 pm with confirmation at 1:20a.m.
3rd: 2 tickets MAD-CHI 300$ each, bought at 5:20 pm and waiting the confirmation.

I think that they are going to ask for the fuel surcharge later or they will give us the money back, I hope I’m wrong.

Does someone know how is law about it in Norway or European Union?

  88. David says:

And they are still selling some with low prices!! at least from Spain

  89. JDH says:

Booked EWR-LHR for May before 7:00PM. Able to see reservation on United.com but it still says not ticketed. Any thoughts on if it will go through or not?

  90. Jillian Walker says:

Finally just heard from them re: 12:50pm PST booking.

Credit card problems and 2 hours to re-submit information before it’s cancelled.

I think the ticket is coming!

  91. Caleb says:

BINGO. Finally got ticketed! Ironically it was the 2nd ticket I booked 3 hours after the first that got through. The first one seems to have been lost.

I did have to change my CC after getting both a text and email that I had 2 hours to update my cc and they would try again. Luckily I stayed up late tonight!

I put in a new card (this time my Barclays Arrival which I had already used on the first ticket, my Chase SP got turned down) and I then got nothing for 15 min, then I saw United listing it as ticketed and confirmed, then saw the temp authorization on the card, then finally 20 min later the email with the ticket numbers and e-tickets.

Wow, what a long ride but for $720 non stop RT to SYD i’ll take it!

  92. Paul says:

What have you found from spain?

  93. SYZ says:

Finally got ticketed, EWR – Milan!!! Booked mine around 2PM PST. Nerve wrecking long wait, but it’s coming guy. GL!

  94. Paul says:

Dates in mid march NYC to Milan will still book on Air Canada. Confirm March 12-17

  95. Jillian Walker says:

12 hours later, flight #1 SEA-SYD is ticketed! Purchased at 12:50 PST!

  96. Rashad says:

    Absolutely gutted I missed this….:'(…..

  97. Paul says:

Ra Shad Im still playing with it. You can get from NYC to Milan in March on Air Canada for 225.00. Air Canada still has deals, just have to dig hard.

  98. Der says:

    Ticketed lax-dxb $300 rt took 8 hrs :-)

  99. BoulderRD says:

Got the confirmation email at 12:55pm Mnt time. Still showing not ticketed on United and no activity on the credit card
    “This reservation is not ticketed.
We will hold this reservation until midnight Sun., Nov. 24, 2013 in Denver, CO (DEN)”

At what point does an email go out to Wideroe, obviously they aren’t stupid and know about this by now…

Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of time because the flight I booked would depart 13 days from now………Thanks

  100. Rashad says:

Looks like anything United will not work anymore. The Air Canada one works if you want to get to Europe from Houston…lots of travel hacking and lots of connecting flights involved however…

  101. Philipp says:

Colleague also got his ticket confirmed. I am still waiting for my booking to be confirmed.
    Booked 10 hours ago

  102. Mike says:

I called Chase United to alert them of the transaction, but they still declined it, flagging it as fraud and sending an alert asking me whether or not it was. And they declined it before 11PM but I didn’t get a notification until 4AM (when I was sleeping) so could not act within two hours and my booking was cancelled.

  103. scibuff says:

good job – great way to kill a “deal” like this (obviously an error or the booking system) is to publish it everywhere on blogs!

    • Bethany says:

Right and I’m sure you had ESP about this deal and didn’t have any help from a forum or blog? Right! Get over yourself.
I’m sure the Airlines noticed after awhile with such a jump in sales. Nothing lasts forever especially *deals* such as these.

    • Matt says:

Clearly you search wideroe.no quite often right? Pathetic

  104. Gavin says:

Mine just got ticketed after booking at 3.30ish yesterday afternoon.

  105. Gavin says:

After ticketing, log into your United account and you will see your itinerary. Click on the “view receipt”. Scroll a little down and you’ll see the breakdown price of the flight. The base fare for my ticket says $60; taxes, fees and surcharges are $100.37, Italian fees included. What we’ve paid is what we get, no extra fuel surcharges. If United tries collecting extra monies, I’ll happily start a class action lawsuit :)

  106. Gavin says:

Oh, and BIG thanks to TFD

  107. Megan says:

Booked Newark to Milan last night at 7:30. Just received the “card declined, you have two hours to fix it” notice. Called my bank, asked them to allow the purchase (even though I’d already asked them last night.) My account has now been debited, the United site has changed to say I’m ticketed and confirmed, and now I’m just waiting for Wilderoe to send the ticket number. Woohoo!! I’m feeling more hopeful!

  108. Ryan says:

Are we safe to make hotel arrangements etc. after ticketing is confirmed by United? Big thanks, TFD!

  109. Keith says:

Can I call UA to make date changes now that it ha been ticketed?

    • Megan says:

I think the idea is not to call United until everyone’s tickets have gone through. Please wait.

      • Caleb says:

If you make a date change won’t you end up paying a change fee and the fare difference or am I missing something? (seems to me it would erase all the savings)

  110. Mary says:

Since wideroe issues the tickets independently, are you able to cancel just one ticket and not the whole package (purchased 3 tickets but need to cancel one)? Thanks for your help!

    • Gerry says:

Can I have one (or two)? You can change names on tickets… What are the routes you booked?

      • Mary says:

How do I change names on tickets? I always thought that was the one thing that can’t be changed when purchasing airline tix because of security reasons but if it can, that would be great.

I booked sfo-mxp end of March and just for info for others, purchased at 345pm pst, received confirmation immediately, ticketed at 334am pst.

Thanks for your response Gerry :) and thanks TFD for the deal alert.

  111. Michelle says:

EWR to MAD for $320. Booked 7 pm, ticketed 7 am!

  112. Max says:

made the reservation at 7:45pm kast night, ticketed around 9:15am this morning. fingers crossed.

  113. teresa says:

Its been about 19 hours since I received their confirmation, still not ticketed, anyone having this issue too? Iwas one of the ones who bought in the earlier group.

    • Jillian Walker says:

I still haven’t received a ticket for my 2nd flight. Bought @ 1pm ish PST yesterday. Went through credit card you have 2 hours to re-enter mumbo jumbo at midnight last night. Now 16 hours later, no ticket but hopeful!

I’ve convinced myself they are doing them in date order. This one I’m waiting on is for May. ;)

      Fingers crossed!

      • teresa says:

I haven’t went through the 2 hr thing for my cc, did you get a text or am email about that? I’m hoping they’re going by date too, I have mines booked for september 2014, still staying hopefully that they get issued soon.

  114. liv says:

Awoke this morning and received my Xmas present! GSO-BRU for $432- TICKETED!!!!!!

Booked yesterday at 5 PM EST, went through sometime in the night!

    It shows on United too!

    God Bless the Norwegians!!!

  115. Matt says:

Booked at 3pm EST, IAD to HRW. Got a confirm instantly, but still not ticketed. No request for new credit card yet (and called the CC I used immediately after reserving to make certain the charge would go through in the first place). United said the reservation would be canceled last night at midnight — now updated to tonight. Here’s hoping — we had been hoping to go to London for a belated honeymoon, but didn’t think we could afford it until this deal.

    • Matt says:

CC charged and United at 11:17 am EST, a little over 20 hours after the initial reservation. Continue to be patient!!

  116. Mike says:

Reserved a ticket on all United flight at around 6 PM ET. It was ticketed as 701 stock not 016

  117. Nitika says:

@TFD I’ve seen a few people ask about the fuel surcharge possibly getting charged at the airport can you confirm whether this will be the case of not!

  118. JC says:

Reserved EWR – MXP at 5:12pm on 23 Nov
Ticketed EWR – MXP at 1:38am on 24 Nov
Pending charge on my Chase Sapphire as of 24 Nov

  119. vvn says:

I made reservations for BOS–>GVA at 6pm EST $412pp. Finally got ticket confirmation 11 h later! No bank mumbo jumbo for me, just had to wait. Thanks!!!!

  120. IKTMIT says:

Bought two tickets from EWR to MXP at 4:10 p.m. ET yesterday. Finally got ticketed at 9:50 a.m. ET this morning. Hoping this deal sticks!

  121. James says:

Booked at 8 PM..Got ticketed just now. Thank you TFD. Keep up the good work

  122. JOHNC says:

Booked RT EWR-LHR for Jan 24-29 and crossing fingers I get ticketed. I did book a hotel but did the free cancellation option on Hotels so if this doesn’t get ticketed, I’ll be able to cancel just fine. I’ve never been to London so hopeful!

  123. Jordan says:

I booked two trips, CLE -> TLV and CLE -> MIlan with this. The Milan ticket was confirmed and hit my credit card around 3AM EST (booked 645PM EST), but my TLV trip still hasn’t been confirmed yet (booked 30 mins before Milan). Weird

  124. Beth says:

Booked at 4:00 PM PST yesterday and got ticket confirmation/number at 8:30 AM PST today. Thanks TFD!

  125. Jennifer says:

I received a text and call from my bank that they rejected the charge about an hour ago and cleared it but I haven’t received a call or text from Wideroe that the charge did not go through or to re submit. Does anyone know where we can resubmit cc details?

Tickets were bought yesterday 4pm PST for March departure and the attempt to charge was done about an hour ago.

  126. Lucy says:

Was a great deal, I passed since it was only good for economy , i have millions of miles and no need to ride the cattle car even for free , India , Dubai ,Israel and Australia in economy NO THANKS!!! Though Dublin was OK for a 6 hour flight at $233.

  127. James says:

I just noticed this line on my ticket receipt “International taxes and fees may be collected at your departure airport.”. Will this be any cause of worry? Or is this standard line in ticket receipts?

  128. Nat says:

Just got my eticket ref – 18hrs later x

  129. Jill says:

Has anyone had a similar experience? I’m starting to wonder if my ticket purchase was lost in internet- land somewhere… Any advice is welcome.

Specifically, I purchased two tickets 15 minutes apart for the same destination. I received confirmation for both tickets instantly. The first purchase was ticketed within 30 minutes of purchase. The second purchase seems to have gotten lost. There is no pending charge on my credit card, and while I have the confirmation email from wideroe, I don’t have a ticket number. I called american express and preemptively confirmed that I did make the charge (to avoid any holdup in the fraud department) and still… nothing.

Anyone have any ideas? Do I just wait?

Tickets were purchased at approximately 2pm yesterday

    • teresa says:

I’m in the same boat. Purchased my ticket at 12pm pst and still haven’t received a ticket yet. I got my confirmation email instantaneously but still waiting on the ticket #. I booked my tickets for september 2014, so I’m thinking they’re issuing based on dates first?

  130. Melissa says:

Purchased MCI to Oslo yesterday around 2:30pm CST. I was ticketed today around 830am CST after receiving an email from Wideroe that my bank had rejected the transaction (though I called yesterday and they assured me that they would not prevent international transactions from going through). I have not received an email from Wideroe, but the trip is ticketed on United. Screen shots and all collected. We will be traveling in February.

Also got MCI to Dublin for St Patrick’s Day. We purchased around 430pm CST yesterday. Ticketed today around 1030am. Also don’t have an email from Wideroe, but do have ticketing number from United.

Hopeful that since they are ticketed, we are good to go. Not sure how long to wait on booking hotels or domestic transportation.

    • Lucy says:

Melissa, have you been to Oslo in February before??? It is cold and dark , unless you are into winter sports this is the worst time of year to go. Oslo is my second home, I spend a few months a year there.

      • Melissa says:

We are into winter sports and are looking to see Northern Lights. We will be in Oslo for a couple days and then move further north to (hopefully) see the lights. I know that it will be cold, and we prefer less hours of daylight to an increased amount of daylight. For our purposes and schedules, the timing is good.

        • Lucy says:

Hope you enjoy it, Norway is my favorite country , i loved it so much that i bought an apartment in Oslo.

          • Melissa says:

Have you been to Tromso or Svalbard? We are thinking that is where we will spend most of our time. Do you have a preference?

  131. ermintrude says:

7 people EWR to MIL March ticketed for $800. I hope they honor.

The site was up far longer than I thought it would be.

  132. Patrick says:

Can someone answer this novice question: I’ve been seeing warnings about fuel charges in connection with this deal, but they have not appeared on my reservations, my tickets, my United reservations page, or my credit card (Amex), which lists the purchases as “pending charges.” They’re all United flights, from and to the U.S., so why would there be fuel charges? Have I dodged that bullet or do I still possibly owe fuel charges, and, if so, how do I find out how much they are?

  133. Edwin says:

Thought I might have missed out but tried booking JFK-MXP around 5:00am EST. Got an e-ticket receipt with PDF from Widerøe around 1:00pm EST. Flights are on AC and I don’t see any related reservation info there – not sure what this means for me!

    • E. O. says:

Edwin – I booked the same route and at a similar time of day, just got ticketed, but it’s not showing up with AC either. Just trying to be patient now and see what happens…either way, thanks to TFD for posting this!

  134. Bob says:

Confirmed ewr-mad at 7pm est yesterday. Ticketed at Noon today. Hang in there everyone. Thank you everyone at The Flight Deal!

  135. BoulderRD says:

Its been 23 hours and no e-ticket number yet nor activity on the credit card. (I called my CC to inquire)

Flight I booked is in 13 days away, so if I don’t get something soon, im thinking about pushing some buttons, otherwise go through the normal channels. What do you think?

    • teresa says:

no, don’t call. a lot of people haven’t been ticketed, just be patient.

      • Jill says:

Just out of curiosity, what is the rationale for not calling?
I understand why it makes sense not to call while the deal is ongoing. But once the deal is done, why is the general consensus “don’t call”?
I’m just asking because I’m curious and want to understand. I don’t plan on calling anyone.

        • Matt says:

Since this is likely an automatic process by ‘tipping’ them off it may raise flags and have them cease ticketing further ones in the queue…just my thought.

  136. LB says:

    1) Out of respect for TFD, who found the deal. They are the experts here and if they say not to call, then don’t call.
    2) Don’t bring unwanted attention to something that is clearly amiss. You never know who will pick up the phone, see your $200 trip to Europe (or wherever) and flag for a manager or someone with decision making authority.
    3) Wideroe is in charge of ticketing, not united or the other airlines, so there’s zero point in calling the carrier. And I hope you wouldn’t dare call Wideroe…
    4) Be patient; you would surely be happy to wait a week to be confirmed on an essentially free trip to Europe. If it works, great, if not, it’s not the end of the world, you weren’t planning to go to Europe 24 hours ago.

  137. Jill says:

    Gotcha. Thanks.

    • LB says:

And just got ticketed to EWR-LHR MLK weekend that I booked at 330 eastern yesterday. Be patient people! 23 hours later and I have a ticket.

  138. Julie says:

Fuck yeah. Ticketed to Mumbai about 13 hours later. Thank you TFD!!

  139. Katerina says:

    Folks–have patience!

Last summer I booked through Vayama the very same itinerary I booked yesterday, through wideroe. Vayama confirmed immediately, but it took them 3 business days to ticket.! And wideroe has only 6? 7? employees in their business. Not only that, I think they have to clear flights through their partners, so that may take additional time. Let it happen.

  140. Ramon says:

Just bought two tickets to Milan from NYC. More expensive and many stops along the way. However, much less money than a direct flight would ever be. 260 Round Trip. Layovers in Montreal and Germany. Here’s to hoping. Through Air Canada.

  141. lee says:

Is still available NYC-MXP r/t $258 by Air Canada? I can show this price.

  142. Paul says:

Both of mine with Air Canada now ticketed. Well after everyone declared it dead! Have a few stops, but ooo well.

  143. Viktoria says:

@TFD can you please give an idea of how long to wait before making hotel reservations and other financial commitments? (For those that have been ticketed)

  144. Margaret says:

    Any route still working?

  145. Carl says:

EWR MILAN with Air Canada is still working

  146. Ann says:

Just booked NYC – MIL for $262. Several date combinations available in January and March. Air Canada is still in the game.

    • MAX says:

HOW MUCH WAS THAT IN NOK? I CAN’T FIND WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DEAL ANYMORE.

WHAT DATES DID YOU USE? MUCH THANKS!

      • Ann says:

1609 NOK – for Jan. 22 to 27 but I also saw dates around March 10 to March 17 (approximate)

        • Ann says:

Do the flexible search and input AC as preferred airline!

          • Maximo says:

Good News: So booked the flight to Milan & it was processed + ticketed + charged within 2-3 hours. (Did this last night 11/24 too)

Not so good news: thought I booked it from 2/13/14 – 2/19/14. Turn out it got processed for 2/13 – 3/19. A whole month extra! (Imagine doing it in Norwegian made it unclear)

That said, what’s best option for changing it. If I call them would that raise flag? Other option is to change name on ticket – since my mom won’t be able to do month plus euro trip – and do a month euro trip with a friend.

Ideas on best approach would be greatly appreciated!

    • Peter says:

Looks like certain dates in February are also in play at that price: LGA – MXP 2/12 – 2/19 1,556.00 NOK

    • Prissy says:

Thanks for the info Ann! I just booked two tickets this morning via Air Canada from LGA to MIL in May for $532 total and just got them ticketed! Lots of connections but who cares, flying from the US to Italy for $266 each is a bargain! The deal is still on people!

  147. Jason says:

Thanks to TFD for posting this (and thankfully I “like” your Facebook page, where I stumbled upon it)…

Mine isn’t one of those “crazy” deals, but tremendously helped me out. I do concert reviews and there was a London concert announced a week or two ago, and I have been unable to find a return flight (other than on Christmas Day – no thanks!) using any of my miles accounts, and since the show is the week before Christmas, everything has been very expensive. I live in California.

I was short on time when I read about this, but was able to book SMF (Sacramento) to LHR for 701 Euros, with great flights on United (my preferred carrier with miles) – so better flights for about half what the cost I was finding anyway.

I did receive a text and e-mail overnight that my credit card was declined (an AMEX with zero balance) and I cleared that up, and shortly thereafter it showed as confirmed and ticketed on my United account and it has a receipt with a ticket number, and AMEX says the charge went through, so it was successful for me.

Thanks again to TFD and all who posted here, which was very helpful. I really appreciate it.

    Jason

  148. Ann says:

    Thanks for posting as well.

There is still life in this — the Milan booking I referred to just got confirmed (booked 1 hour ago).

I think I want to help some people have some hope.

I booked my ticket from BNA to TLV on 2:16AM CST on 11/23
It took until 1:52AM CST on 11/25 to get my booking. A total of 35 hours and 24 minutes I got the official ticketing.

Also, I was rethinking my departure date, and when I called United, they advised me to call the “travel agent”. So I just got on chat with Wideroe, and asked if I could change the departure date, and if so, what the fee would be. They told me the only option is to cancel my ticket and purchase a new one (with much higher costs)… I said no thanks.

Anyway, just thought I’d pass that along as an FYI.

    Hey,
    I finally did it.
I bought LGA – MIL via Air Canada for Feb 25- March 11 for $260.60 at 3:48 central time & got my e-ticket 16 minutes later. So yes, it’s still kind of a deal. Be aware that the prices that are on the flexible calendar are not true depending on the days. E.g. a lot of the 1200- 1316 Nor flights are 1600 Nor (including all fees) on this route. Thanks, TFD!

  152. marta says:

    hey,
do you think is there a chance united will keep all these tickets?
las year alitalia had a similiar mistake, but tickets were much cheaper, even around 1e per ticket, and here I paid around 190e per ticket, so it’s completely for free.
    what do you think?

  153. Matt says:

Booked on Saturday afternoon for a trip Boston – Munich on United for less than $500 r/t. I was worried it wasn’t going to get ticketed, but it came through around 3am EST today (Monday). Woohoo!! Thank you TFD and to my friend for passing the info along!

  154. Andy says:

After 48 hours later my Milan ticket for $160 in May 2014 was finally ticketed. TFD is making me go broke from all this traveling but you guys rock!

  155. Katerina says:

ALERT–good news, these are being ticketed, but very slowly. Repeat: very slowly, many due to partner airline issues (time zones, offices open/closed, language/software difficulties, etc..)

I booked at 1:58 pm on Saturday, November 23 EST and JUST NOW received ticket charge & receipt on my CCH–almost 48 hours.ago .

    The wideroe office is backlogged.

    Have patience.

  156. Emme says:

Flight from SF to Istanbul booked for $450 ticketed overnight which was 36 hours after confirmation and 3 hours after United 12am reservation hold. Stay positive ppl!

    Thanks TFD!!!

  157. Beth says:

If we received an E-ticket with a ticket number is it safe to assume that United will uphold these? Is there any chance of getting to the airport and owing more money? I want to know before I book hotels.

  158. gabriel says:

EWR – Milan booked Sat 4pm, ticketed 12 hours later 4am
IAD – Tel aviv booked sat 4pm, ticketed 36 hours later 4am today

    thank you TFD!

so I bought a 9/26-9/29 for 1900NOK($310), not as good as $150 but still cheaper than normal price. I got the e-ticket 10 minutes later. I did see a 1600NOK avalible for 2/5-2/10 but everything seems gone now. Price went hella up for all the nyc-mil dates. I think it’s safe to say the deal is officially dead?

    • Prissy says:

I bought 2 tickets via Air Canada this morning for 3,218 NOK and got both ticketed about 20 min later. Lots of connections but hey, for $266 a piece I can do it! May 2014 travel LGA-MIL

  160. Jill says:

I too just wanted to say that the purchases are being ticketed! It just takes time!!
I bought two tickets NYC- TLV, 15 minutes apart. on Saturday at 2pm. They have the same departure but different return dates. The first was ticketed within 30 minutes. The second took nearly 36 hours to get ticketed. Just wanted to put that info out there in case it helps anyone.

  161. Paul says:

Anyone going to be in Milan presidents weekend? We should arrange a meet up.

  162. kierra says:

so there’s no need to worry about the fact that it’s taking longer than 48 hours for my ny to milan reservation that i booked saturday afternoon eastern time?

  163. TFD says:

Please read our update #9 & #10 on the body of the post – it will answer some outstanding questions. thx

  164. Ann says:

Got my ticket number on Saturday but still no CC charge. Not even pending. Anybody else didn’t get charged too?

    • Mike says:

I have the same problem. Don’t see any pending too. But I saw my available credit line had decreased with the same amount of the BUG ticket. Don’t worry then..

  165. CC says:

Has anyone had any luck changing a US segment of their flight?

  166. Jason says:

Just FYI… I had booked a flight to London for next month, and a charity has asked me if I could shoot an event for them two days earlier than my arrival, so I tried to see if it is at all possible to change my ticket booked during the “glitch” deal.

I went onto their chat, and he said because of the “glitch”, they won’t make ANY changes to any of the tickets.

Mine were booked through United, and I called them and they said I could only make changes through the travel agency I booked the ticket with.

I filled out the change form online on the Wideroe site, asking if I could change the outbound date, and keel all the same otherwise (and United told me they had the same flights available on the new date) and they responded fairly quickly via e-mail.

    This was their first reply:

“These particular special offer tickets from United Airlines cannot be changed in any way unfortunately. You may cancel within 24 hours of the original purchase and receive a full refund if you wish.”

I responded, asking if I could pay a change fee and any fare difference, and they replied:

“Sorry , we are not able to change your reservation.”

I asked if I could book a new (additional) outbound flight, not use the original outbound, and still use the original return flight, and they responded:

“That is not possible. The Airline will cancel your reservation if you do not meet at your flight.”

I asked what happens if the ticket is canceled, and they said:

“If the ticket gets cancelled, we only refund airport taxes.”

So from my experience, you can’t make any change to your ticket booked under this deal. Use it or lose it.

If anyone has any other thoughts/experiences, I would be interested to learn if there are any options to make any changes.

    Jason
