I’m getting book with a travel agent, which one? What number? I’m looking at $348 from NYC in March.

    This has now died.

That went quickly. Fares changed while I was trying to book! I tried SEA, PDX, SAN, LAX.

    Already dead, tried Priceline.

I don’t see the $340 fare anywhere on Air NZ or United’s websites. Is this a mistake/ghost fare?

    Complete waste of time

Thank you for finding this sale, I booked 3 r/t flights to Auckland in 9-across 787 and 10-across 777 economy so wish me luck. Seat Guru reviews are rough on Air New Zealand but I want to see New Zealand in both the summer & winter…first flight is next week and only 4 days on the ground before returning to USA.

You need to follow the detailed directions and search in ITA, THEN book using their Priceline link. It does work and can attest that their steps are correct.

Have just heard they are not going to honour the fare, would go booking anything in NZ

    DALLASQUANTAS 6 years ago

This is identical to their Cyber Monday fare (widely posted and booked), why wouldn’t they honor the ticket? I have selected the seats I wanted and am ticketed.
Flight leaves in 7 days, I’m already set with my AirBnb’s. Will let Amex sort it out if anything happens between now and then.

I booked two flights from Fort Lauderdale in March. Hoping the airline honors it. Fingers crossed!

  • Absolute 6 years ago Reply

Booked earlier at 3pm EDT, and was just told my fare will not be ticketed. They tried to contact NZ for a waiver, but it was denied.

Ben W 6 years ago Reply

Who told you it would not be ticketed and who tried to contact NZ? I have my confirmation, seat assignments, everything.

    Mofo 6 years ago

I think most people who didn’t use a major OTA didn’t get confirmations. My friend tried to book with smartfares and got a rejection letter. I used expedia and got an official Air NZ confirmation number.picked my seats and seems to be still active.

I booked with Priceline and received a call six hours later that it would not be honored. I called Air New Zealand and got the same response.

    Ben W 6 years ago

I have yet to receive a call or email from anyone about it being canceled or not honored. Fingers crossed.

Did you get an offical booking reference number from the airline ? Not a priceline confirmation number? Last time the same thing happened to me with another deal. Got a email from them that they got my order but not the 2nd one with with ticket/confirmation number

I hate that I missed this deal!! This region is on my bucket list!

i booked yesterday around 3pm edt as well via orbitz and got a ticket # and seat assignment. everything is still good as of right now. did anyone who got ticketed receive a cancellation yet? whats the norm?

  • aznqt703 6 years ago Reply

i received a ticket# and seat assignment. Yesterday Air New Zealand cancelled my ticket. My OTA did not inform me. I would suggest for everyone to use their airline booking code, go to Air New Zealand and make sure that code is still valid. I was able to use it the day I booked, but yesterday when I went on, the reservation could no longer be found. DISAPPOINTED!!

Booked on January 23, 12:45 MST via Expedia. Have confirmation references for United/Air NZ with seat numbers. Log on to united.com, all is well. Try to go to Air new zealand’s website and have a message asking to call.

  • Craig 6 years ago Reply

Just got an email from Expedia cancelling the Air New Zealand portions of my roundtrip flight after the 24 hour cancellation period ended. I had confirmation # and everything. Anyone else in my situation and has been able to resolve? Not looking forward to dealing with Expedia customer service.

Looks like ours might be deleted as well when logging into the NZ site?
ZERO calls/emails from Priceline OR United OR Air New Zealand.

United.com still saying everything confirmed (3 of 4 legs on United). We’ll show up to the United counter in 6 days if no phone call and try to check bags to see if they will put us in our seats with the confirmed + ticketed screenshot. It was the same price for the Cyber Monday sale and these planes are NOT full from the seating charts. Probably a stealth sale to fill last-minute seats but now Revenue Mgmt is selectively kicking people off the fuller flights, only leaving those on light days (1/2 capacity or less).

Air NZ is a government-owned airline trying to fill the island with Tourists right?? We have a bunch of cool tours lined up, nothing to do but spend $$$ once you land. Plenty of hotels & AirBnb’s open next week so not like the whole place is sold-out.

NZ Air admitted to me (after two calls and 30 minutes hold time) that they messed up. They never offer $350 round trip according to customer service, it is only roughly $1200 at their lowest. So they basically are cancelling on everyone to cover for their mistake. I was given no recourse for my inconvenience and lost time, only an email to complain to. The question is under what law/contract can they just cancel all these bookings? Can NZ Air be trusted?

    DALLASQUANTAS 6 years ago Reply

Not true, Air NZ had similar pricing mid-September and Cyber Monday 1-day flash sales and those never cancelled.

They simply oversold some planes here and are offloading those passengers. Low season from March to June so needed to fill planes and know that folks opt up to economy-plus cabin once they read reviews of cramped economy seats. It was the first thing we did, bid $750 on the Economy SkyCouch.

With $99 trips to Europe on Wow/Norwegian and not much more on mainline carriers this is a competitive price for rock bottom economy product (Air NZ or United). They just underestimated the demand and are going to backtrack now that DOT allows it. Read the fare rules that are attached to your booking (also published and analyzed by Gary Leff). Pretty obvious this was a 1-day flash sale similar to both September and November.

FYI bad sign for us as the Priceline page changed and now says in bright-yellow banner “Your tickets are confirmed but your seat assignment didn’t go through. Please scroll down the page and try again.” This afternoon we had seats and already bid to upgrade them.
