Hey guys, why not announce the SFO to AXA flights that are available for around the same price but are available year round? (Easy to find via google flights.) Anguilla is much preferred by most travelers to St. Maarten because it’s less touristy. Most people take a ferry from St. Maarten to Anguilla. (Only thing is that the trip involves an overnight stay in Puerto Rico on both legs, but that’s not that bad.)

@Boco Gracia Gonzaga Gutierrez Smart – double overnight? That’s not ideal. That’s extra cost you have to factor in.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the double overnight may be an issue for some, but Puerto Rico is a nice stopover. So we looked at it as a double vacation: get to go direct to Anguilla plus a little pre- and post-vacation stopovers in Puerto Rico. And to your point, it’s also a 2-stop flight, but again we get to explore Philadelphia on a layover as part of our ticket. The great thing about that fare is that the dates are available almost year-round.

I just thought that as an exploration trip this can be a good idea, especially since if you want to go to AXA you have the hustle of going through St. Maarten and getting a ferry, and AXA East Shoal beaches is one of the nicest.

Still, you guys are the experts and if you think most of your followers won’t be happy with this, that’s good to know.

What does the 5.2 cents per mile refer to? I’ve seen 3 cents per mile on some of the other fares. Does this mean that the higher the cents per mile, the more you’ll be earning in terms of rewards towards future flights?

The Flight Deal 8 years ago Reply

@G – we use cents per mile as a benchmark. the lower the cents per mile, the cheaper the fare for the distance flown. for example, let say a $300 nonstop jfk – sfo fare is 6 cents per mile ($300 / ~5000 miles). now if the price is $200, the cents per miles is 4 ($200 / ~5000 miles)
