Changes Are Coming to the Chase Hyatt Credit Card

One of our favorite hotel credit cards is the Hyatt Credit Card. The current offer provides two free nights at Hyatt hotel or resort worldwide after meeting initial spend requirement in the first three months. That means being able to book rooms that may go for $1000+ per night if you paid.

However, that will all change on June 29, 2017. Instead of two free nights, you’ll get 40,000 World of Hyatt bonus points after spending $2,000 on purchases within the first three months. For reference a standard night at a category 5 hotel would cost 20,000 points. A category 7 hotel such as the Hyatt Vendome pictured costs 30,000 points or 15,000 points and $300 if Points + Cash is available but would be available free for two nights under it’s current offer.

You’ll earn 3 points per dollar spent at Hyatt properties; 2 points per spent at restaurants, on airline tickets purchases directly from the airline and at car rental agencies; and 1 point per dollar on all other spend. The card also doesn’t charge foreign exchange fees, all for a $75 annual fee. Currently, you can also earn a free night at a category 1-4 hotel on your card member anniversary – which is a nice return on your annual fee.

Bottom line – while it’s nice to have some flexibility with the points, the two free nights are definitely more valuable. Get your card before the offer changes!
