Norwegian – $285: New York – Stockholm, Sweden. Roundtrip, including all Taxes

Another cheap deal to Europe on Norwegian – just like the $266 deal to Oslo last week. Norwegian is a low cost carrier so they will charge you for everything – advanced seat assignment, luggage and so on. We don’t normally feature Norwegian deals since United and Delta usually match — but at these prices, it probably won’t happen.

With the Euro at an all time low, we priced this in Euros to save you about $27 (if you were to buy this USD, its $312 — whereas this is €270.40 or $285 USD at today’s exchange rate). Use a no foreign transaction credit card like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus™ World Elite MasterCard® to save on the f/x fees.

There are numerous cheap flight options from Stockholm to the rest of Europe. Use skyscanner.net to search.

    A few thoughts for ya…
    – I’ve visited Stockholm three times, and it remains one of my favorite cities in the world; amazingly beautiful and very clean overall! In other words: jump on this deal! 😀
    – As a Program Manager for Google Flights, I’m clearly biased, but I wanted to note that our Flights calendar can be very helpful in finding deals like this.

Here’s an expanded calendar view showing fares from New York to Stockholm:
    https://www.google.com/flights/#search;f=JFK,EWR,LGA;t=ARN,BMA,NYO;d=2016-01-18;r=2016-01-27;mc=p

Admittedly, due to a number of factors, it takes longer than average for us to show prices for this specific itin, but I think it’s still a quite handy tool :).

P.S. — As a travelgeek, I also recommend the overnight boats to Finland and/or Estonia; in fact, I did the ‘triangle’ — Stockholm-Helsinki overnight, a few days later a hydrofoil to Tallinn, and then a few days later, an overnight boat back to Stockholm. All three are fabulous cities to visit, and the boat rides are comfortable, affordable, and — at least last I checked — pretty easy to get a booking on even at last minute.

@Adam – we think Google Flights is a very fast product. But the calendar functionality misses availability because of the +/- 3 day logic. Take for example, availability from JFK – LAX on Delta nonstop. Let’s compare the two:

    Option 1 – Google Flights:

    Option 2 – ITA Matrix

Notice that ITA found more departure dates using a 0-7 date range. If only Google Flights can only do the same.

    Hey there,

I do see your point and appreciate the screenshot and details. We’ll look into this and see what’s up and what the possible options are.

And no one can understate how nice and useful it is to see a fare breakdown that explains WHY one airline offers a route cheaper than another. This would make Google Flights more useful. Otherwise I don’t see Google Flight’s usefulness over its competition.

Another nice feature to have in Google Flights would be the ability to insert a segment at the top (or in the middle) of a multi-city itinerary. Currently, I have to start completely over, which is frustrating and time consuming!

What did you mean by United and Delta usually match? Do they have a price matching practice?

The Flight Deal 9 years ago Reply

@Matt – we mean, United and Delta usually put out fares that are the same price for travel to/from Scandinavia. Not like store price matching where you bring an ad and they give you the same price.
